[...] I guess I thought the presence of assistant coach Rob Evans on the Arkansas sideline would reverse the curse he put on the Hogs as Ole Miss coach, the one that has made them lose all but one of their games in Oxford since the start of the 1996-97 season. Or maybe I just put too much stock in Saturday’s rousing win over Vanderbilt. [...]

KHOG -- As Jim Harris said over on Arkansas360: Not if the selection committee watched that Alabama game.

I'm in the sit back and let them prove it to me mode. I am not yet sucked back in. They made many mistakes down the stretch in the VU game and the Dores, with a long history of poor road play and poor play against Arkansas, did not capitalize. A win at Oxford will go a long way toward getting me sucked back in.

I was thinking about this team and your blog headline here, and they remind me of what the Godfather says in Part III - "Just when I thought I was out, they suck me back in." That's what this team is doing to Arkansas fans right now after beating ranked Vanderbilt. They are sucking as back in! The question is will the selection commitee be sucked back in for a third year in a row.

I went to the game, cheered my ass of, screamed myself hoarse, booed crappy SEC refs, sang the fight song, slapped high fives with everybody in my vicinity, called the Hogs, and sang O LORD IT'S HARD TO BE HUMBLE as I walked out of BWA.

It was pretty sweet.

My strategy of rooting for Vanderbilt actually _worked_. I watched that game with less passion than any since Pelphrey became coach, waiting for the inevitable collapse at the end. I didn't yell or scream, either way. Honestly, both teams had some very bad empty possessions down the stretch, but VU, out of character, pulled the most bone-headed play at the end.

It was a big win for the Hogs; but it points out how frustrating it is to watch these guys. If Beverley hits even two of those bombs at Tuscaloosa, Hogs win. Shoot free throws like that at Tuscaloosa, Hogs win.

I am pledging to stay calm and removed again on Tuesday. I still don't believe in these guys with the memory of the Bama game so fresh. But win at Oxford, win at Walton against Auburn, and they'll be 11-5, as good as I could have expected, and I'll have to start caring again.

This was one of the most exciting games of the year for sure. The last 10 minutes felt like the last minute of the game, it was so back and forth, every possession was critical. Awesome game.

BWA was LOUD.

I had to watch the game from a website (ESPN to be exact), and I thought the last seven seconds would never disappear! A friend called and explained that Vanderbilt pulled a Michigan there at the end with the technical foul. About time, the mental mistake was on another oversize foot! haha. So life is good right now, well, until Tuesday night. They need this road win in the worst way. And Oxford has not been kind to our hogs. I can't help but wonder if Colonel Nutt will be there to cheer on his rebels. Uggh.
