The game was tied 14-14, then the Hogs went on a 21-0 run and the game was over. We shot well from the 3-point line and played good defense. LSU is terrible and we played well at home. That pretty much sums it up.

Now lets see if we can take that effort on the road. I have a feeling Pel will want to win the next game more than any game this year.

There is no tonic for what ails your shooting like a team that fails to play defense. LSU simply didn't cover the Hogs, at all. Combine that with the Hogs' usually reliable defense, and not always so reliable defensive rebounding, and you have the recipe for a blowout.

While it didn't matter, the Hogs continued to be awful at the free throw line. Since it looks like the Hogs need to sneak a win in one of the three remaining road games to get any sort of decent seed, they better get that fixed.

We did, it looked to me, pass the ball a little better than we did at Miss State, where the inability to find the open man crushed us just as we were about to break open a lead. That also needs to travel to Lexington.

Worst moment: Weems limping off the court. Pel says it's an ankle and Sonny will be able to go on Saturday, but cause for grave concern.

So, the Hogs need to finish 10-6 in conference, and that means three of the last five, three of which are on the road and one of which is against bona fide top 20 Vanderbilt at Walton. Pelphrey has it right: one game at a time. But I bet he is about to bust at the thought of going into Rupp Saturday. The Hogs can, maybe should, beat this Kentucky team, but the road has always confused this group. Better bring it, boys, because I like your chances better in Lexington than I do in Oxford.
