Not So High on the Hogs

Looking for a satisfying win over Missouri in the Cotton Bowl so that the Reggie Herring era can both begin and end on a positive note?

Then you’re setting yourself up for a big letdown - at least that’s according to Rivals.com. On the site’s “Expert Picks” bowl page, all four experts have the Razorbacks going down. On a positive note, they all predict the game to be fairly close: the largest projected margin of victory is 12 points; the rest are in single digits. Given Arkansas’ ghoulish bowl history, a close game has to considered something of a moral victory, I guess.

EXPATS: I’ve been telling fellow Hogs that this game scares me because we are going to have to depend upon our secondary sooo much in order to win. Norton, Woods, Grant, et. al. need to have a big game against a guy who got invited to New York and some rather tall wideouts. There aren’t any little fishes in that receiving corps.

Of course, if the running game is clicking, and lord I hope it is, maybe we can keep Chase Daniel and company on the bench for a lot of the game. Play keep away!

Too bad Matt Jones can’t dress out and beat the Missouri Tigers once again. Haha. I saw that in person in Shreveport, and I like to think that just maybe we are a curse to the Tigers in bowl games. One can hope. And time will tell.

A positive thought: Louis Campbell was in charge of the secondary in the 2000 Cotton Bowl. We know how that turned out. I believe he is back in charge for this game.
