As the Coaching World Turns…

Butch/UNCThe world of college coaching often seems as gossipy as your average group of junior high girls. In what I’m quite sure won’t be the last rumor to swirl around the Arkansas program in the coming months, there’s suddenly a lot of speculation around UNC coach (and Arkansas native) Butch Davis becoming the next Head Hog (no matter that the position technically isn’t vacant). It’s gotten to the point where he’s already issuing the standard non-denial denials (perhaps on the advice of noted truthteller Slick Nick Saban). The Slophouse blog has the story on this.

In semi-related news, Richard Davenport at the Democrat-Gazette reports on how the coaching uncertainty has already affected one prized recruit.

Lots, lots more to come on this in the future, I’m sure. Fasten your seat belts, everybody…

Nice pic…looks like ole Butch is thinking, “Damn, this has got to be the ugliest, most feminine color for a football jersey I’ve ever seen! Can’t wait ’til Nutt moves on so I can get up to the Hill.”

Can’t wait to see the disappointed expressions on your Woo Pig Pooey faces when you don’t get Butch Davis. For goodness sake, even Houston Nutt thinks the North Carolina STATE job is an upgrade over Arkansas. Davis is saying the exact same thing now that he said in ‘05 when the Houston Nutt tower watch was already underway. So what has changed since then? For one, your AD role is in transition. For another, you’ve got your boosters wandering the sidelines and sending incindiary and infantile emails to your on-again/off-again starting quarterback. What has remained the same? Your governor still believes in Creationism. And in the mean time, Davis has already put together one of the strongest freshman classes in college football and is on the way to building another (and the most solid program the Heels have seen since Mack Brown).

It’s amazing what a maelstrom can emerge just because some CBS.com dufus doesn’t have a fact checker. Some hack with a deadline speculates Davis will leave for Arkansas b/c Davis has an exit clause (which is untrue), a local reporter asks Davis to comment on the Arkansas job, and the next thing you know, it’s an Arkansas wet dream. Davis may leave before it’s all said and done, but whoever would hire him will have to cough up a chunk of change. How does that sound after buying out Nuttjob’s contract that expires in 2011?

Listen tarhole willie, I don’t care if he comes or not, in fact, I doubt he would leave after one year. Not sure he’s who we need anyway…hell, he’s not even winning in that weak league yall play in. So, pick your bloomers outta your crack, and have a cold one on me.

I’ll take a rain check on the cold one, Carrmaduke. I don’t drink with mouth breathers.

Besides, I’m all about the wine and cheese.

We really need stop thinking that we don’t have the money to get high profile coach. I mean with the exception of Atlanta, whAT region of the south has more concentrated wealth than Northwest Arkansas?

That’s the spirit, Carrmaduke.

Is Carrmaduke like Marmaduke, the lovable but incorrigible Great Dane that graces the funny papers? I wonder which one has the better hygiene.

(I already know which one is smarter.)

I know you’re bent out of shape that Arkansas wasn’t named one of the “New Ivy” schools like Carolina was, but at least your library has dozens of coloring books — many of them already colored! — to brag about. So pull your overalls out of your crack and have a chilled glass of chardonnay on me.

There was a story in the Sporting News about how A&M is going to put up huge money to get a name coach. Listed Tubby and Butch as the two main candidates.

Hey Tarheel Willie, how bout you stop trashing the great U of A school that I attend. It is a great school with comprehensive libraries. Start talking after you see the school which you probably have never done. Big deal if you think you have a “new ivy” school. I was born and raised in Durham and I love the state of North Carolina. No reason for you to bash my school. In addition, please shut the hell up about your football team and its “great freshman” class because last time I checked, the UNC football program didn’t get above .500 and just about lost to the horrid Duke program that could make a football fan puke. Say something when you have a winning record. Say something else when you play in the SEC instead of the cupcake ACC. Come see who wears the overalls because its for damn sure not students at the U of A. You sound just as worst as the idiot Les Miles who thinks this is Ar kansas. Dmac should come truck your ass.
