Another Tenille connection that gives John, Stephen and me more reason to hate Auburn is that the song that she and The Captain butchered on their way to infamy was written by Willis Alan Ramsey, known as Alan Ramsey as a freshman at our alma mater, Rhodes College (then Southwestern at Memphis), in 1969-70. Ater a year spent mostly in his dorm room playing guitar and writing songs, he dropped out, moved to Austin and in 1972 recorded his one and only ablum, the eponymous Willis Alan Ramsey, which included "Muskrat Candlelight", later covered by America and The Captain and Tenille.
