This Would Have Made My Weekend

Or my month … or maybe, sadly, my year. Surely you’ve heard by now that Arkansas State came within a whisker yesterday of pulling off a massive upset of Texas. Some hard asses claim there is no such thing as a moral victory. I say, “Bull.” This was definitely one. The thought of UT fans seriously sweating this game out makes a nice holiday weekend that much nicer.

You nailed it, Stephen…

I remember at one point Saturday when Auburn was trailing, Texas couldn’t pull away from ASU, and Notre Dame getting rocked…

A good weekend indeed…

Steve Roberts said today that he has received confirmation that the penalty on the onside kick was indeed the wrong call.

It’s too bad…I would love to have seen a team from Arkansas beat Texas…as a nice prelude to the next to seasons pershaps

Afterward, McKinnon said game film would reveal the Indians had lined up properly, with six on one side of the ball and four on the other.

The play was among those in the unreviewable category, according to college football rules, but the film apparently showed Big 12 Conference officials the same thing. On Wednesday, Roberts confirmed that Walt Anderson, the Big 12 ’s supervisor of officials, had told him the call was a mistake.

“I did receive a call from the Big 12 that they did miss the call on the onside kick,” Roberts said during his weekly press conference Wednesday. “Anything I would say after that point would just be whining. It would have been nice to have the ball at the 45 with two timeouts and 56 seconds to just see what might could have happened.”
